I bought a bag also TT at same place as you know. They were sold to me as hardwood, I questioned same they said it was hardwood. I was ok with them, better then minute man, but the Inferno golds were the best of the 3. I am burning with a St Croix, so I am sure results vary! Inferno for me would be good cold weather pellets and the other two fairly solid shoulder pellets.

Where did you get the pure fires?

Incidently some soft pellets irritate my skin, particualry vermonts. I can feel it from cretes & north country also.. I may have a slight allergy. Faces itches if i touch it right after leveling hopper & slightly on hands.

And hell no you buzzards cant take them off my hands!! Though i apreciate the concern!

The two bags I have only say "wood"....which what I would hope is in the bags. No bag date code either.

Mine say "100% Wood" in the "Manufacturer's Guaranteed Analysis" box, but above that they say 100% White Wood. I guess "white wood" means something different than I thought, because these are some of the darkest pellets I've seen.

Dog, I almost spit out my Stella when I read this. Inferno Golds the best? Hmmm. Me thinks it's time to throw in the one test bag I bought...Have to see how they do in my stove.

Good eye tt...I missed the "white wood" part on my bag. Last season or the season before they listed "white wood" in the analysis. Actually that year I bought Chow's twice...The earlier ones, I believe, said "white" and the bags later in the year just said "wood"

Im not kidding, I have no "Dog" in this fight (see what I did there), use a regular digital thermometer on my coffee table and they threw out as much heat and a nicer flame than the other two. Of course Vermont's throw out the same but at one less level on my stove. I will by a stove thermometer though to see where they are at. I am going to TSC in 20 minutes to see what they have and get a couple more bags. I burned about 5 bags (varied brands) the past week and one small clinker (size of a quarter) came out. All the ash was fairly fine. Again I am new at this testing stuff being a blazers and Vermont only guy. And will wait for ice cold nights to test these again.

OK went to TSC today (Putnam ,CT), they have a 2 ton limit. They had minuteman and North American and their own supply. I don't recall if anyone has tried the TSC brand. I bought the N American and Minute man (just a few bags). Inferno Golds were not there for the picking.

I have to say I agree with your assessment of the Inferno Golds. I burned some over the past couple days, and I am pleasantly surprised. I was not expecting much from these, but in terms of heat output, they are better than the Pure Fires and the Minute Man pellets. These are NOT the Infernos of old (thankfully!) :) They produce a black ash that is similar to the Pure Fires, although lighter (weight) and not as much of it. I burned two bags so far. The first bag (bought back in August I think) was very tiny pellets, the whole bag was 1/4 to 3/8 inch. The second bag, the pellets were bigger - 1/2 to 3/4 inch. The ash rating of 0.7% on the bag is a stretch, it's definitely NOT that much! What's the running theory on which pellets are really in these bags?

Penningtons will have to due for now.

Doug says he heard Curran is the one doing the milling and bagging.
