Got a nice break from school for thanksgiving. Most of it was spent in Florida, but I got some work done at home too Bucked and split some more oak off the load my tree man dumped out front. Didn't have my truck, but my brother'a exploder managed to drag a couple trailers of wet oak out back Here's the butt end of this oak. Pretty big, but the 291 will get along alright (Or maybe I need a bigger saw ). Also split up some gnarly white oak rounds I stacked out back this past winter. Little bit of punk starting in the sapwood so I figured I oughta get it split and stacked. These rounds were not interested in splitting when fresh cut, but they have some nice big checks now, and split pretty nice Finished up the back row in the pic and did the whole front row that you see. Each finished row is about 2 cords Even found some wood to split while on vacation in Florida Also had a nice bark/ugly/chunk/splitting trash fire
Yep. Really need a bigger one though, it squats pretty good when full of wood. That's fine for around the yard, but on the highway Id rather have too much axle than too little. The explorer sure doesn't pull like my w250 though. Had to really gas it in 1st (auto tranny) to get the trailer going on the soft ground The dodge will pull anything attached to it if you let the clutch out in 4lo
Got a bit done, it looks like... At least you were able to get your mind off the books for a couple of days....
Not anymore. Used to, but that's a lot of cover and roofing is expensive. And tarps are a PITA. In my area anyways, when the wood gets rained on it dries in a few hours of sun. I don't have to deal with snow or ice except for maybe a couple days a year
Love the paint job on the trailer.don't worry about that 291 she will noodle those big pieces no problem.
I agree..we are lucky down here, I don't cover either. Got most of my oak from standing to 20% in about 6 months, and some I stacked at work on concrete with 7 hours direct sunlight got down to 16% during the same 6 months! I feel bad sometimes when I hear about needing 2 or 3 years to season wood.
Nice stacks ! Nice trailer ! Nice fire & fire pit! Love white oak, one to top tops IMO! How much you burn a year?
