I do not know, but I imagine they stock BKs. She told me they are one of the higher volume dealers BK has, and most of the employees have one.

    I'll honk.

Good to see they use what they sell. It always amazes me when you go into a shop and all they know about what they sell is what is in the brochure.

Ok, just got off the phone with the BK dealer in Davison.
Very nice guy who gave me good info that jives with everything that's already been said about BK stoves.
He mentioned Chris from BK too.
They burn, and have for about 5 years, a King in the store. No Sirocco or Ashford in the store though.
    Ashford OTD: $3400
    Sirocco 30 OTD: 2900
    Princess Ultra OTD: 3200
He said the new stoves have a heavier bi-metal thermostat which helps achieve better burns, and the Princess may have the new one now.
He had no problem with me looking at the 30 series due to my house size and even said it's usually a good idea because these stoves can be run so low and slow.
    Sound familiar?
I'll check with my local dealer as soon as I can for the same info., and compare. Don't know if it'll be worth the drive down to Davison or not yet, but I got good vibes from this guy.
Not the usual sales guy banter.
Just to be clear, YMMV on the pricing.

They better start selling a lot more of those stoves over here so I can find some used ones.

Where is your 'local' dealer? The ones around here are pretty useless, and I would drive to Davison.

Is there a blower in that price?

For that price is should come with a small gnome that lights your stove and brings in wood.

    BKs come with an alien.

New stoves can be expensive, the way.

$3,400 for a 2.75 cu ft stove is extremely pricey when compared to every other manufacturer. I can not think of one other manufacturer that has that high of a price point for a stove of that size.

You can get the Progress or the Mansfield at a cheaper price. There isn't one cast iron stove at that price point.

Not arguing. I wouldn't spend that much on a stove.

Wonder what they go for on the other side. I thought that pricing difference was supposed to be more evened out, but it doesn't seem that way.

The Ashford evidently has most things standard, except the fan.
That's a $285 bump, which was included in the price I quoted. The Sirocco fan is only a 160 bump, but you have to have the $102 convection deck with it.
The Sirocco started at just under 2100, then you add your door of choice, legs of choice, convection deck and fan combo, but no ashpan.
All prices included a $195 shipping charge.
If I took the Sirocco with plain door, plain legs, no ashpan, no convection deck/fan combo, OTD price is about 2700 including shipping.
How much is a PH, and can it be run low and slow?
I'm hoping my local guy (in Lewiston, Jeff) will be less on the new stoves, since he gave me a rough price of around 2700-2800 for the Princess.

Oh, and he told me the Princess Ultra is a 2.9 stove.
I thought they were 2.75 or so. Hmmm

The other two are a tad smaller than the princess.

PH is currently $3195. I just looked this afternoon, actually. Plus shipping.

I figured there was a freight charge in there as well. Prolly $150 sales tax, too.

I tried to buy a flue probe all the way thru there the other day. Musta been a run on them, 'cause everybody was out. Didn't know Lewiston was an option.

PH low and slow? I don't think you can fill it up and smoulder it for a couple days like a BK.

Dave we talked to this gentleman a few years back before we settled on the Jotul. He is a really smart guy EXCEPT they thought we where stupid for having more than one year supply on hand. :( They where using fresh cut oak in there BK and it was so hot I could barely stand in the stove room. It was burning in the back room and the whole store had to be in the 80s. They have a lot of different brands but BK is his thing he stated " we don't sell a lot but we love them and push them when we can " :) aside from the wood thing I think you will love the guy !

Maybe they've smartened up, because he mentioned they need dry wood, and I said no worry....mine's close to 3 years c/s/s.
    He didn't balk at all.
    Can I mention his name?
Seemed like he had nothing but time to talk, which was refreshing.

Well then.....the guy I talked to was Terry.
Like I said, quite the talker.
    He rounded down the prices.

Fwiw PD, I haven't heard anyone get a King and wish they had gotten the smaller stove. If you are looking for the 24/7 heater that can do it in both September and January, I don't think you'll find a better stove. That big firebox makes lower density wood a lot more useful. If they put the 5.7 cu in box that is in the Apex furnace into a stove, I would be all over it and it too would sit smack in the middle of our living space.

Now if pertiness is a prime consideration then...

The only stipulation Re: pertiness, is that it must have a window to see the perty flames.
What I haven't really stressed to my wife, is that the flames will be minimal.
Since I'm beginning an attic insulation quest, I don't think the King is needed.
Remember, only 1250 sq. ft. here.
I don't care about advertised firebox size claims, I want to know real world actual usable space. Brochures aren't always helpful in that regard.
Pretty much all stove makers say to fill no higher than the top of firebrick, yet seemingly quote every last little nook and cranny as part of their firebox size. That's bullony and to me, false advertising.
    Ok, rant off.
I like the look of the Sirocco, the Ashford better, but am leaning toward the less expensive model.
