So we haven't had power for a day and a half. So I figure today I figured I would get caught up on some milling since I cant do much else. I put a brand new blade on the bandsaw and started splitting a nice oak in half for quarter sawing. I was about halfway through and focusing on the blade in the cut and i noticed a change in the sound. A sound I unfortunately know too well. I had cut halfway through the woos handle of my cantdog! To add serious insult to injury it somehow was lined up perfectly with the one screw in the handle that was a previous repair! New blade ruined. Oh yeah it was 30 seconds after my neighbor walked up and he and my wife watched it happen. What a dumbass.
That sucks... I had to reset the clocks TWICE because we had the power flicker a couple times during the storm
After getting three ladders out and every tool I own to cut a plumbing vent into a second story metal roof, I cut the rubber boot for the three inch hole instead of the 2 inch hole. Down off the roof for the second trip to the hardware store of the day I went. Spent the rest of the afternoon disassembling the cordless drill to get access to the brushes which were now melted inside the drill. Lots of gears in there! Doesnt look like the drill liked that 4" hole saw too much. I cant wait to go back to work tomorrow. Sitting at my desk will be great, for the first 20 minutes anyway.
For a sure way to make a cordless drill a disposable model...hole saws! I don't suppose you'd care to put up pics of the mill incident/results?
I've had every brand... Got tired of replacing them. Now I have ridgid because of the lifetime warranty (including batteries). They aren't as nice a Milwaukee or makita. But.... Lifetime warranty.
I found the brushes reasonably. Looks like this one will be salvageable. I routed in a thick piece of walnut scrap I had in the shop. The cut went not quite halfway through, so Im hoping this lasts a while, pending the stupidity holds off.
