I put the plow on. easy 2 pins & the winch cable Tighten the shackle to the plow. Good to go. Hit the winch button to lift the plow NOTHING, nothing nothing. jiggled the wires, nothing. Can hear the relay clicking. check bat connection , seems ok OK Pull it into the shop. quick trouble shoot, not power to the winch. 12V ok feeding the relay. Can't get to the relay Pull the tire, still not enough room. Take the plow off, pull the plywood front rack, pull the rack remove the cover under the rack, now I can see the relay. measure 12 volts in nothing out. Side covers off, get the relay out (this was not easy or fast), test. it's bad. Of course everything is in front of the truck, got move everything so I can go parts shopping. Call auto parts, open to 10pm, go to Orieley's , guy looks & looks & took 20 minutes but he finally finds a continuos duty 12 Volt relay I can make work. $45.00 Roads havent' been plowed but everyone was driving pretty cautious. No issues to & from town. Install relay , OK it works Put atv back together 5 + hours to plow Plow the driveway Looked all around the shop for MURPHY, he's in there somewhere. At least I was able to find the right parts & had a warm place to work on it.
Good job with troubleshooting & fixin' Dave. Hoping that MURPHY has left your property and all of Alaska, for that matter. But NOT headed here either.. That bench you made is a work of art .
Good work on the troubleshooting! and no offense, I knew MURPHY wasn't near me, things actually were going my way for a change.
Glad you got it fixed and the drive plowed bogydave. There's nuthin quite like a warm place to work is there...
Stuff only breaks when you need it. LOL Well now I have the bugs ironed out , ready to plow, next: snow tires on wife's car Pretty sure it won't be the last time I work on a 12 year old atv About 2-1/2 ". little dusting after I plowed Daylight picture:
bogydave sorry to hear about the electrical problem and going through all that hassle. At least you found the issue and got the part. Looks like all is well. Nice work. Many feet to push in the near future.
It seems like nothing breaks on a beautiful, sunny day. When it's cold and snowing, that's when everything goes to heck!
