Ray, I really have no idea how much Brad could have asked for this saw but for some reason he decided to let it go for his initial purchase of $500 including the shipping. I am only throwing that out there as many of the saw heads on here already saw the add and have read the thread where he worked performed all of his custom work on this saw. Honestly I know Dex seems to find them dirt cheap a lot but to me it felt like the deal of a lifetime. If Brad had not have been that generous I would probably never own this thing. That being said I can't wait to fire it up and hear it in person.

 

Ok so I finally got home but before I would let myself unpack the saw I had to unload the Husky rolling workstation from the truck, get it in the basement and set it up. I'm hoping to build a bench and setup a corner of the basement to jump a little deeper into working on saws this winter and have a nice warm place to grind chains. After it was set up I finally got my hands on this bad boy and it is in perfect shape!! I can't even tell it has been touched. Brad did an awesome job packing it and it came with all the goodies. Unfortunately I need to help my wife with a few things so I probably won't be able to mess with it much more tonight. I did pick up a new 1.5 gallon gas can and mixed the oil at 32:1 so I now have some gas for it.

 

Hey...you could just pizz rev it in the basement tonight.

 

The thought crossed my mind but the basement isn't that warm and the couch is uncomfortable for sleeping on.

 

Tell your wife we said it was OK.

 

Nice pickup on the saw. 16:1 will make more power since it has better ring seal. 32:1 works good since it's an even 4 oz oil to a gallon of gas.

Can someone educate me on the 562 vs. 555 transfer covers? I thought rev boost was purely the crank stuffers.

Stopped for a quick lunch and here are the results of the morning. Startedby sharpening my 16" chain and through it on the 555. Made about 8 cuts with the 16" bar in very dry Hickory. The 16" chain has the rakers taken down quite a bit but even that didn't slow in down. I switched out to the 20" bar which I actually think I like better as there is less bending with the extra reach. Even in Hickory which is not know for showing impressive cut times it felt crazy strong! I like the handling and so far I really like the autotune. I can tell this thing will handle this 20"bar buried in hardwood without a problem. Another positive thing both my 460 magnum 20" bar and this new bar use the same chain so that worked out good.

The tree I cut up was that Hickory that fell down in my yard and it was dry and hard! The highest moisture reading I got even while splitting and checking a fresh split was 19%. A lot of the split pieces were between 14-17% so it's going in the shed as back up wood for a few months from now. This stuff was a bear to split by hand!
