I'd like something for her to use here when the power is out at home and for traveling. A car charger would be best. I'd like it to play movies, and possibly games. The choices are confuzzeling. Tablet/dvd player? Any other suggestions? Portable DVD player sounds easiest for me, but I have only seen ac chargers, and then I would have to bring cd's along. I better state the obvious, we have terrible cell phone signal (1 bar with repeater antenna), and I haven't bothered to hook up the router since I pay by the gig for internet satellite. SO, it needs to work independently. Thanks for any guidance!
We have bought one of the drop proof kid tablets for the youngest for Xmas. I can't remember the brand right off. I think it can be hooked up to wifi or straight into the computer to add books and movies.
Leaning towards kindle fire 6. Great reviews on consumer reports and $79 sounds fair. The kids version has poor reviews on Amazon. Thoughts?
Got my mom (76 yrs old) a Kindle fire last year for x-mas, she loves it. I'm not sure of everything it does but I do know it can get the internet and she surfs and reads her books on it. $79 sounds good, I paid a bit more than that 1 yr ago.
We got the oldest girl a cheap tablet from verizon. I think it was the ellipsis or something like that. It was cheaper through them than it was to buy outright plus we can get her books while traveling after we turn airplane mode off.

My wife used to use a BN Nook. Then she got an iPad so we let the kids use the old nook. Just occasionally for kids games like the Daniel tiger app and such... We don't let them browse the net or anything yet, not old enough.
I pulled the trigger on the Kindle 6. Gawd I hope I can figure out how to run it People tell me "Its just like running a tablet" lol I don't have one of those either Interesting amazon was backordered 4-6 weeks, but staples had them instock for shipping at the same price. Thanks for all the advice!
Fire Tablet currently charging. Just to make sure, she cannot get on the internet since I have not set up wifi here....correct?
