No pics today dave but will get a few tomorrow afternoon. The saw is up above Emma's head, dry like her. Didnt run it hard today and i am thinking its gonna be a nice strong runner for sure.
You cut in the swamp or near/at the edge ? I've gone after storm damage swamp maple and almost lost a shoe going in up to the family jewels.
That just too cold and wet. I'd have to be darn determined to have done that. Not a problem now. Lucky to get to the mailbox and back.
Went right in a couple weeks ago with the truck bill and had no problems. TILL the next day and got good and stuck. I am taking the small trailer and 4 wheeler now with no problems. Need a good deep freeze dave.
Took a couple aspirin and been good to go ever since Upstate. That Maple burns beauty right out of the box woods.
Looks like the river bottoms I scrounge around in sometimes. The wood is usually top notch if it's suspended off the ground, flooding will sometimes pile cornstalks and sech in piles as big as a truck which will dull a chain pretty quick.
Ah, the swamp here isn't much more than criss-crossing roots, fallen trees and water. You can get the surface bouncing kinda like a trampoline.
I can see where some waders, , a winch & a few pulleys could be real useful Of course a week of near 0° temps will solve the problem too. Is all the down stuff rotten or usable. ? Some down wet stuff stays solid for a long time,
That week of the temps sounds like it would be easier and ya the stuff on the ground is pretty much mush dave. Ended up on the side of the swamp and had to settle with a bunch of nice dead elm. Tried a couple other spots later on but we are done with the maple till freeze up.The new Echo works great
Good load, looks to be dry wood New saw is plenty strong for that size wood bet it cut fast . Makes it fun
Gonna try it out today on the big logs that i drug up awhile ago dave and i'm thinking they should be no problem as it does seem like a strong/fast saw. This row of that swamp maple should do us till Jan. The stuff is great as i dont have to play with the stove when loading. Just fill it up and within 10min the flames flip. Its the one on the green bike WS. I think it was around $250 when bought. http://www.quadraxatv.com/cargo/elite_en.html
