You cut in the swamp or near/at the edge ?
I've gone after storm damage swamp maple and almost lost a shoe going in up to the family jewels.

That just too cold and wet. I'd have to be darn determined to have done that. Not a problem now. Lucky to get to the mailbox and back.

Looks like the river bottoms I scrounge around in sometimes. The wood is usually top notch if it's suspended off the ground, flooding will sometimes pile cornstalks and sech in piles as big as a truck which will dull a chain pretty quick.

Ah, the swamp here isn't much more than criss-crossing roots, fallen trees and water.
You can get the surface bouncing kinda like a trampoline.

I can see where some waders, , a winch & a few pulleys could be real useful
Of course a week of near 0° temps will solve the problem too. :)

Is all the down stuff rotten or usable. ?
Some down wet stuff stays solid for a long time,

That week of the temps sounds like it would be easier and ya the stuff on the ground is pretty much mush dave. ;) Ended up on the side of the swamp and had to settle with a bunch of nice dead elm. :faint::D

Tried a couple other spots later on but we are done with the maple till freeze up.:yes:The new Echo works great :)

Gonna try it out today on the big logs that i drug up awhile ago dave and i'm thinking they should be no problem as it does seem like a strong/fast saw.

This row of that swamp maple should do us till Jan. The stuff is great as i dont have to play with the stove when loading. Just fill it up and within 10min the flames flip.:coffee:
