We got up to 70 yesterday so we let the fire go out for the first time in 2 weeks. Probably need to light it up again tonight. 3"-6" 0f snow coming for tomorrow.
37º outside now and heading into mid 20's tonight. Everything with the cat looked good last night so I cleaned all around the stove real good and fired back up. Buck's been burning again since last night around 8, ash and beech rolling along right now. Snow flurries predicted for the next few days, sure would be nice to have about 2 inches on the ground next Monday for deer gun season.
Very strong winds here the last 48 hours...gusts well over 55. Many, many branches down. I've walked the road four times today picking up branches. Two were over two inches in diameter and up to 25 or so feet long. Brought them home and cut them...one hickory, one ironwood, both really good fuel. After a warm day yesterday, we are back to freezing, with chance of snow flurries most of the rest of the week. Am still burning maple uglies mixed with about 1 -2 inch diameter branches. The occasional piece of ironwood.
Just re-lit after a 36hr break. Reached 70* outside yesterday and 65 today and the house stayed 70* w/o a fire. Dropping down into the 30s overnight and tomorrow with snow.
36 h break here too - just started a fire for tonight since it's cooling back down - worked all day in a t-shirt today - nice! Cheers!
Same 36 hour break here, lit her up last night as it was a little chilly outside and the house was down to 64. Woke up to the house being 68, I probably won't light up again until after work. Just in time to grab a beer and watch the hockey game.
32º and snowing lightly, 74º inside with a few small splits of ash and red oak cruising along. Time to get the bird in the sink to finish the thaw, late dinner today, 6:00 as my stepson has to work. Going to go out and clean up some splitter trash and start a fire in the pit.
Sunny 4 degrees with -10 windchill right now. Was 12 when I woke up 3 hours ago.Just barely 4 inches snow yesterday.20 later today.76 in here thanks to more of that Silver Maple/Green Ash/old dead White/Red Oak mix.... 40 tomorrow,53 on Saturday,so a 1 day break from burning.Cold again Sunday through Wednesday of next week.
