I had a 1987 and then a 1991 Chevy blazer k5 .traded each one in with over 300 k on them. My current 2001 silverado 1500 has 273 k on it and is still running strong.

I had an '89 Mazda 626 that had 289,000 when it started smoking. A little less than 1,000 miles later I couldn't see the cars behind me in the rear view mirror so I decided it might be time to retire it. :emb:

Still have a '94 Dodge diesel with 278,000. I'm on my third transmission and the body is really starting to show it's age but it's a work truck so I'll keep running it. It would cost 60k to replace it and that will never happen.

Then there's the '96 Camry with 201,000. That's my daily driver. I fully expect to see that getting close to 300,000.

Thats the problem with dodge. Thats terrible! 3 transmissions with only 275k!! Unless you two 6-8k pounds daily...and in that case why not get a built trans to take the abuse?

    A couple ford escorts. One was a 96 5-speed hatchback with a sunroof...kids called it the race-cort.
    Next was a 99 5-speed wagon...kids called it the shag-wagon.
Last seen with their original exhaust systems; only one change of plugs throughout their life; over 265k each. Wonder how much longer they lasted?

My W250 had 239K on the clock when I bought it, and the odometer doesnt work; so Im guessing its right around that 250 mark

This poor truck has been through the mill... several times. It will occasionally tow a 6000lb chipper, a 10,000lb GVW trailer with a skid loader setting on it. It pulls a 2500lb stump grinder on a regular basis. On top of that, it plows snow every winter. Poor truck has had a hard life and I have no regrets about replacing the transmission. At $2200 the first time and $3200 the second, it will take a lot more tranny's before it's costing more than a new truck. I have about 40,000 on the current one; a Jasper. And it seems to be pretty tough. I told them what it would be doing and they set me up with a super duty.

A vehicle that old still has to pass emissions? We dont have emissions tests in this state so I have never dealt with those. I think they did away with vehicle inspections in about 93 or so?. But I'm not sure if back then they did emissions though?

Yep, after vehicle turns 25 years old they are exempt, should be the other way around in my opinion as the older ones are the ones doing all the polluting

we only have emissions testing (and burn bans), they could care less if your frame is rusted out, have no brakes, lights or windshield

    When I worked out west (NM/West TX) I drove 1K miles a week for 4 years...first on a 94 yota small p/u ('94 till '96) and then on a '96 Ranger (96-98)..over 200K miles in 4 years...don't miss that

BTW..people that have never been out in the Southwest have no idea how much space is out there..I used to drive from El Paso to Odessa (about 175 miles) and cross into the Mountain Time Zone, yet they had the same area code! Granted it was before the cell phone explosion, but there just wasn't enough population in between the two areas to use up all the #'s!!

Does it really count when you start putting different motors and trans in a vehicle? I mean you can keep fixing something forever if you want.
