I tried it once and failed about 1/4 of the way up lol because I got bored and stopped. Shawn has inspired me to try again and see how it goes. It would look pretty sweet in my back yard!
Heck, you had already finished the hard part of laying it out!! After the first layer or two it's easy to just keep going up!
The time it took made me loose interest... At the time I had 6 cord to stack and didn't want to mess with it any longer. It is much faster the way I do it with green steaks and pallets. I am going at it again though now that my stacking is caught up. I have about 18 full cords to split and one of the property's it's on is big enough to play with it again.
Shawn - Your HH is perfect! I love building em' even though they do take time. I enclosed a picture of what wifey and I did for Halloween. We will dress it up for xmas as well. You'll be surprised how much people respond to them. I have several around my property, like mushrooms! Cheers btw - They work well at drying the wood, you can see the shrinkage happen rather quickly.
Thanks, and welcome to the club! Those decorations are great. I think I definitely will be putting some Christmas lights on it. Think I'll decorate it like a house, and use the lights to make a false door and a couple windows.
[QUOTE="Shawn Curry, post: 199469, member: 1437" About one trailer load short of a full stack... [/QUOTE] Arent we all?
Shawn - I was bucking a few pieces of elm + oak just now (see pix) when a ramdom guy pulls up with 1/2 pickup truck full of nice cherry. "You want this?" he asks..."I can bring a bunch more". Some days are better than others! Pictures tomorrow...wifey barking orders, gotta run.
