For snow load, I'd go roof rake. I bought one a few years back when we had the Halloween storm. My roof was popping and crackling from the weight of the 38" of heavy wet chit. While others we paying to get theirs shoveled by roof crews. I easily pull 80% of it off all by myself and kept my feet on the ground! One neighbor said he paid $200 bucks to get his shoveled, I don't think my roof rack cost me more than $40 with tax.

I have also used the roof melt, Moms house has always had issues with Ice dams. Toss some on the roof and it makes it way to the gutters and melts through the ice. Severe ice I have used whats called gutter socks. You can make them yourself. Grabs some of the Mrs old nylons, Cut to 12" lengths, Tie one end and put some ice melt in them. Tie the other end and Use a pole to place them on the ice dam. They will melt trough and create a open path for water to flow. Again never needed a ladder and kept my feet on the ground.

I use the roof rake, I can reach about half of my roof which is plenty to prevent the ice dams. Got it from Amazon for about 60 bucks.

Never have had a problem with ice dams. I have pretty decent insulation in the attic. I use the roof rake and clear the last 6-8 feet of the roof from ground level. I did it Thursday night after work and it took me about 30 minutes to do the whole house.

Now it's 45 degrees and rainy, and most of the snow has melted. Gotta love this weather.

Just bought the one I mentioned above.....$50 + change. Handle is oval shaped, very stiff even when extended.

Now that I have one, it will probably never snow enough to need it.....I hope. :)

Cleaning the glass? Is there another reason besides aesthetics that it should be done?

Going to take advantage of the 60* temps today and clean the stove  then do some food shopping for Turkey Day. I'm off till next Monday soo I got a Honey Do list plus my own list ,tough to get things done when you only get 2-3 days off a month , but now that the season is basically over I can relax:D

Yeah I knew that, my intent here was to get the guy who really takes issue with the white stuff agitated. Got to get something started, no rest for the wicked.

Watched it this morning. Hoping they are full of hot air!! o_O

Think they are saying 6 to 10" for my area. Wife is getting some storm supplies while out shopping for the holiday dinner. Otherwise I just need to rearrange the shed. Snow blower moved up to the front row! :loco:
