Our second Aussie now and yes he's a good one but I hope he lives through the puppy stage without my wife stringing him up..... he'll be 10 months old next week and man is he ornery. Sorry for the hijack Steve.

Anytime, but just so you know, I can put some heat in that wood shed if I want to. And no problem with dog talk. They are part of it. Mine helps me with the wood all the time And LP, my wife may very well string Buddy up before he grows up as well. He is a crazy boy!
Jason, don't feel you have dumb questions. You may get some dumb answers, but not questions. As for seasoning the wood, yes, it is done outdoors before the wood goes in the shed. Chief, you have a very nice setup there.
Agreed Dennis. boettg33 Depends on the type of wood, with hardwoods generally taking longer to dry. Lots of variables even in that answer. But yes, basically most of us dry wood in the air and/or sun, then move it into a shed or under cover of some kind for winter use. Not to derail Steve's happy dance re: his woodshed and dry wood..............
It is all steel, Not as heavy gauge as I would like......I would pay more if I could find one, but I can't.
No derail PD. Although us old timers have fun with our experience and success, I love passing it on to others, the younger ones, assuming they think we old cadgers have a clue.....wish somebody would have coached me. I had to learn it all on my own. But that is part of why I love this place (and the old place ).
I figured out some things early on, then learned that others knew what I had....that wet wood doesn't burn well. I like to pass on that info when/if someone will listen, too. I don't LOVE my woodshed, but I sure do like it, a lot. I kick myself every time I think about how long it took me to build it. Just went out and grabbed a couple armloads of dry wood, even though it's been raining for a few hours, and started snowing about 1/2 an hour ago. Glad you didn't think we derailed the thread.
Love my woodshed, I don't season outdoors 1st,,off the truck into the shed, just don't have the logistics. The summers heat and air movement does a surprisingly good job, it's almost kiln like during the dog days of summer.
