Yep, thats bad. I had no idea he smell that bad. Of course, he lived in a barn so who can smell over that.
The weird thing is that he's had about 30 baths so far-- all necessary! I'm start to think he packed a stash of manure from your place and he rolls around in it privately.
The only time I've know a cat to have an odor is when they have an infection or skin condition. Ck home over real close. Also ck his ears. Ear mites will smell like something rotten.
I had a cat that had allergies to fleas. It took some steroid injections from the vet to clear it up. I don't let my cats outside at all so anything they get is dragged in by the dogs. I had to switch over to advantix for the dogs and advantage for the cats because the fleas become tolerant to the Frontline. If your cat stinks, I'm betting it is more than rolling in something rotten. I've had cats for year. Odors are alway a sign that something needs tending to.
Good point Save. I agree. We had a cat that caught tapeworms frequently from catching mice. I could usually tell by checking the litter box but (butt ) sometimes he looked like he had cornmeal on his behind. Also, are you feeding him milk? Surprising but true many cats do not have the necessary enzyme to digest it, and can make them stinky.
He's been treated for fleas, mites and worms. We do not give him milk but once in a while he gets some from cereal bowls.
Good God, get the washing soda off the cat. It is very caustic. Will he stand you wiping him with a wet or damp rag?
