The area I live in has a special tax on cars of 86 dollars a year. My truck apparently gets a special tax of 202 a year. Heavy trucks bear a tax of 455. Government is so foolish. They drive hard working productive people away. Many will grin and bear it. Not me. This post is not intended to be interpreted as political or incendiary. I am frustrated and wish I could disappear with my family and my stove.
I feel your pain...Going off the grid seems to be a more and more common thing with some folks recently. I know you can hide well enough if you wanted to.
I own as home in chicago...the heart of graft and corruption. Go figure...our new governor is a billionaire. Wonder how many people he ripped to amass that kind of wealth.?
Aren't license plates enough of a tax already? How many more years before Chicago lets you move away?
Don't feel bad, I live up here in the boonies and my employer (the local regional hospital) charges us employees $500 a year to park. It is the only place in this town that has paid parking............... On top of that, my idiot boss, who makes $106,000 a year totally ignores it but "expects his staff to comply".
Maybe he earned it!! Granted, I don't trust him either, because we know he know's how to "pay-to-play" in Chitcago. Do you have a garage??? If so, park in it, and not on the street. Isn't the sticker supposed to be if you park on the street anyhow???? Used to date a girl that lived in Chitcago around Midway. I parked on the streets overnight many times. Never got a ticket. Get this though....................she rented the upper from her Father..............there was a 3 car garage on the back of the property.................they never parked a vehicle in the garage. Go figure??!!
