I've a an MS 441, made in 09, that, after listening to you piston heads :), I'd like to try opening her up with a duel port system.

While I can put a tree down on target every time but I'm not a mechanical kind of guy. Things always seem to come apart real easy for me but take forever to get back together and I always have a couple of funny looking things leftover.

So where do I get the parts and how difficult is the changeover?

And if it works as well as you folks say I may want to port the new 660 after the warranty expires.

This is what my 441 muff looked like after returning home from Mastermind (engine porter/builder).

I think he does a dual port now on the 441. Pretty similar to his 261 or 362 dual ports. They custom make these deflectors.

So what's the performance results of the mod? And how does it affect the carb adjustments?

    40% on a port job
The 044/440 ............. about 25% with a good muffler mod and re-tuned properly

Personally, I took off the dual port cover from mine and went back to the stock one, with a much larger opening. I use my saws for more than firewood, and I was breathing in too much exhaust with the DP muffler.

The 441 muffler is just an empty can. The old style (non-mtronic) 441 gains a bit from just opening up the stock outlet. My MS441C-M has a mod that's similar to what Dex shows, just not opened up as much at the top opening. Our 441's were ported by the same builder and run just about even with each other.

    40% on a a port or 40% on a 441 port?

25% on an 044 with a muffler mod only, or port and muffler mod?

Just wondering if it's worth my time and money. It would be cool but that's no reason to have the modification done and I don't make a living with my saws. But I do love them just the same and only want the best for them....

    A bit much my friend.

Please try to give some truth and insight to a new member.

10% is a solid number from just a muffler mod.

And you can cut gills, add a second port, or open up as much as you can under the stock deflector. Any of those 3 options will work.

To answer your question in the title "where" to get a DP muffler, TN "how" to get a DP muffler, make an appointment and send it to TN. :)

My 441c took a trip TN, and it came back with a DP muffler. I dont make a living with my saws, I only use them for my own firewood needs. But I will tell you it makes firewooding a LOT more fun!! Plus your cheeks will hurt for hours after using it!!

If you hang around chainsaw forums to much, sooner or later you will send yours to TN, mine as well get on the list sooner rather then later, it is only growing,,,,

    I thought I seen he was DP'ing the 441.

Looks good! And I agree. Hang around long enough and that saw may go to someone/somewhere for a little extra "Umph"! ;) I prefer mine with Extra Bananas! But to each there own :dex:

Mine got the Extra Banana package while there. I did not buy this saw new, I bought it used (long story) but it had low compression when I got it. I sent to Randy and was only "planning" on having it rebuilt to stock specs when I sent it in. After it was in TN I decided to get the Extra Banana package, I'm glad I did.

It's a blast to run! Here is a short vid I made a few days after getting it back, has a new out of the box RS chain, only made a few cuts before the vid, 20" bar, wood is dry elm. I was still getting the hang of it in this vid, so go easy on me.

A simple way to add a second port is to use a deflector from a Husqvarna 288. Just drill a hole and screw it on, sandwiching the spark screen between the muffler and the deflector. Here's one I did on my Dolmar 7900... image.jpg
