So VTs, even local here, are now pushing $300. The PTLs and Blazers (that, in my stove, are as good or better) I got for $219. . . No question what to buy.
Never heard of them before but check this out: http://naturespellets.com/fuel West coast only, pine, less than .25% ash? Have to wonder if this is another example of the kind of trend we are seeing here this year with Blazers, PTLs, and other western US/Canada softies making their way to the east coast for sale in box stores? Where did you find these, HD? Someone from PA just reported finding them at an HD there too. Better grab a few bags and post your findings! I am interested to know if they are good! Edit:
Man....this is crazy, all these softies making it to the East this year.....well, it's good for us! Ray....can you grab a couple bags and try them out? Where did you see those and what was the price?
Since 2005 I have been using Blazers and VT exclusively. Vermonts the past 3-4 years. But I do not burn even close to what you guys burn, so I pay a bit more to have the home warm the few hours I am home. Wife is fine with 62 degrees at bed time, so stove goes off. I keep house usually 67-68 when we are home and that's a bit warm! I also am lucky to have a south facing home with a lot of glass, so it can be 15 and Sunny outside and 65-70 inside with just the Sun. (Stinks in Summer though!!)
Thanks for the welcome! Just recently figured out where so many former users of that "other site" had disappeared to! Had to join the fun.
I have the pellets that dethrone the Vermonts. PTL softies. Since the time I initially found them I have amassed 51 bags of them. Let me know if you want to do a swap. Probably the only time I will ever find them, but glad to share the wealth!
Hmmm, I am quite curious. Which ones on your stash do you find to be better? I would like to try them. My wife is going to give birth any day now so I don't know how much time I will have for testing. Maybe at some point we could meet up.
