I'm not sure about the displacement......no will to research them. The little bugger runs really well. I do have a 242XP that I'm building for myself. What port timing numbers should it get?
You fishin' in the wrong hole around me monkey man... I'm just a hack... Every time I think I got sumpthin' figured out, I end up wrong... That's why I ask you...
I'm gonna make a cant cutter outta this one though Matt. I'm getting old........time to run with the 40cc crew.
Oh 242's rip. I wish I wouldn't have sold mine. I'll check my notes when I get home. Piston was domed. It turned 16,700 and in the cut was 13,900. Only saw I've used and cut with that had 325 chain on it. It wouldn't pull 3/8 as well
Did someone say 242? Randy I personally think you should run the saw stock first. Of all the saws I've ran.....the 242 gives me the "WOW" factor.
I've got videos on my phone but don't wanna go thru the you tube and stuff.....I did have to eliminate the high side fixed jet to suit me. Picture 346 rpm and 036 lugging power in a ms 170.
I've come to realize stock ain't so bad. Makes the souped up ones fun to run. But run it stock and critique from there.
Randy I don't think that is correct 42 special is 42mm and looks the same as the 44mm 246. Are you sure which jug is there?
254......yeah that''s right. Too many saws. Nope......might be a frankensaw. I had to make a 42mm mandrel for it though. Here's a pic of the jug.....
Hmm....... see what got me interested in this saw was I saw a post.... "I have a 246 with a 242xp top end perhaps not the virgin you are looking for but I will post some pics." (I must have missed that.... bc I thought it was a oem 246) Then I got offered.... "The Tecomec 242XP CP cylinder kit I purhased came in today also has nice QC looks close to factory quality." for an extra $140. why offer me a 242 kit to go in the saw for another $140.... if it already had a 242xp PC installed in it? after I sent this: I get this reply: Thank you Steven, I have some 242 parts boxed ready to send that will take some of the 'rough' edges off the 242. I did not send them with the saw because the box was too tight and I was afraid of causing damage. Those parts never showed up.
