Wannabees can be very good. We need them, so long as they are serious and not just trying to stir things up or act stupid.
Guess to look less like these silly yuppies I'm gonna have to shave the beard and wear a suit. (No offense to anyone that does, it's just not my thing.) Might be able to pick up some nice clothes and tools for cheap once the fad wears off. Once the first blister or callus appears or the significant other says you smell like gas fumes.
I haven't seen this look in the UK (yet). Speaking as a woman, please send this guy over Please keep this one
Speaking of how one dresses, I pretty much dress the same as I did when I was a young lad. It is just comfortable for me. The only change would be in some of the materials. Like Polar Fleece was not around that long ago and some of the newer fabrics. But even when I was milking cows, flannel was the shirt of choice. Levis were the pants of choice, etc.
Look at their hands too. Scars and that stain from not wearing gloves that never seems to come off. Dirty fingernails and the like.
I was out with my wife Monday wearing my "nice" work boots, jeans, and a plaid wool coat, and of course sporting my beard. My wife commented how I was getting my lumberjack on...unfortunately I had just read about "lumbersexuals" earlier that day, and wasn't quite sure if it was a compliment or not! It is unfortunate that the clothes that I used to be able to buy on clearance at the end of the year, like plaid wool jackets and hats, are now all the rage and hipsters are driving up the prices.
The one I mentioned is a Dakota Grizzly, but I doubt you'll find the same one, I picked it up over 2 years ago on clearance for $30 in the white and black pattern. It's warm, but not too warm that I start to sweat if I'm moving around a lot. I did have to sew every single button back on it, but other than that it holds up to working outside well enough that I can still wear it around town. http://www.backcountry.com/dakota-grizzly-kodiak-jacket-mens I also have a Michael Kors dark grey wool coat that was also picked up on clearance that's a lot warmer with slightly better build quality. It's been going for 4 years now, it's my dress coat (I work in an office downtown) and I wear it every day in the winter and it still looks new. Best $100 I've ever spent on a coat, once it starts looking worn I'm sure it'll serve me a long time as a work coat. A lot of my outdoor clothing I get from http://www.steepandcheap.com/. They used to have much better deals, but I suspect the hipsters found this place and get their premium flannel here so the prices aren't as killer anymore. Still worth looking at, as the products change every week, and clearance deals after seasons are still pretty good. Just about all of it is high quality name brands made for high activity outdoor sports (skiing, camping, rock climbing, whitewater kayaking).
Thanks for the info and links Ive been considering this one: http://www.llbean.com/llb/shop/1495...e=maine-guide-zip-front-jac-shirt-windstopper I like the built in wind layer. Id like a filson mackinaw cruiser, but boy is their stuff expensive
The first thing to happen if should I ever decide to leave my job is grow a beard. I miss it so much but am not allowed to have facial hair for my job. Wife had never saw me without my beard before this job. The night I shaved she couldn't quit laughing....to this day I still suffer separation anxiety.
You've been scarred for life. To make yourself feel better, laugh at her when she's shaving her legs.
