This stamped aluminum plate on the bottom side of the saw under the trigger plastic? Looked up the bill on mine and it's been longer than I thought. Got mine in 08 but here is what the tag shows. Thanks for the info.
Mine has the same code that Kevin has. If I trust this guy, he said it was only a year old? How does you get the spark plug cover off? I removed the two obvious screws. Looks like a third one is on the left side hidden beind the cool wire maybe.
There is a sticker on the rear handle First set of #'s is the engine family, then the next is D.O.M (date of Manufacture) 7/11 Hope this helps
I can see where the sticker used to be.... Is the serial number located just beside the muffler? 176693015
Thank you for the info kind sir, learn new stuff all the time and I appreciate you taking the time to share. The time line fits to a tee.
Here a several pics on took. Certainly needs a new air filter and spark plug. I was wrong on the airfilter that I said it was a white one earlier. Compression is not good, but from reading on it, it shouldn't even start that low. Faulty decompression button could certainly do that, I can't even push it in. But if it's bad, it would start at all right? I can't see any obvious bad spot on top the piston. Is that color of the piston scorched from heat, that normal?
Looks like a press test, rings, decomp, air filter, muffler surgery and you will have yourself a great saw ! I'd re-use that piston and cylinder !!
That's kind of my thought. With the top of cylinder being hid under the plastic, it's very hard to get a firm grip on the fitting to screw it in. I did put a pair of pliers on it to tighten it, but I borrowed the kit and didn't want to trash it. How do I get the top plastic off? Looks like there is a third screw hidden behind the spark plug wire., how do you get to that?
Turn the H a little bit counter clock wise. If it's against the limiter already then it needs to be pulled.
That plug indicates a close to lean burn. As for your compression? It can't be that low to run that good. I use plumbers tape to get a good seal. If your decomp was leaking? Your plastic would be burnt/melted around the button.
