Awoke yesterday morning to a sqealing stove every time the auger would turn. I just replaced the auger motor 2 weeks ago because the bearing was sqealing. This time it was coming from inside the tube. I clean the fines box during my monthly cleaning, but I guess I'm not getting it all cause the tube was full of fines. Vacuumed it all out, slapped it back, and it runs like it did when we first got it.

    Beware of the fines folks.

Your auger tube was full of fines? I believe that in my stove the fines get pushed through the aguer tube with the pellets. Maybe I am missing something though.

It was further back where they drop into the tube. When I take the fines cover off I reach up in there with my fingers and a small vac attachment and try to get all the fines I can. But I'm not getting everything there was a lot in there. I just gotta do better job I guess

When I clean mine, there are fines but I've never seen a staggering amount. It's usually not full. Mine seem to get pushed through the tube like mepellet said.

I'm burning LaCrete. Hardly any fines or dust in the bags. But I do hear a lot of grinding and pellets breaking.

But, woke up this morning to it sqealing again. Don't know what else to do for it. But I need to do something, wife is driving me crazy with the complaints.

make sure you seated the auger correctly. Use some lube on the "sealed" bearing. No one likes a dry pole.

I use a brand called Tri-Flow. Been using it for a few years. I guess it is kinds like WD-40 on steroids. I hit noise bearings with it and tends to last 6 months so I guess it works. I can also replace bearings but if this works might as well wait till the freeze up or pay up $$$$.

Don't use any product like WD40 or oil that can attract fines and dust. A dry lube like pure silicone, moly, Teflon and even graphite in the tube can be useful. The fines should get pushed out the tube. I had a top drop and the tube never got filled with fines. They were always sent out the drop end. I would also see if your pellets are not self destructing or getting crushed in the tube.

For motors and bearings, yes, this works. I used a high temp Teflon oil on my blower and exhaust motors.

I went to my dealer this morning and he thinks it's the auger. He gave me a new one, but it looks totally different than the old one image.jpg
