They are saying mainly a few snow showers this morning, cloudy this afternoon. Temp is suppose to go to 37ish though. So rain is a possibility with all this cloud action. I just finished stacking one load under the porch from yesterday. Wife and kids didn't get to the second load yesterday. Now, breakfast!

28 this morning with this is pretty much the high of the day. Less than a dusting on the ground. We set the most consective days under 32 degrees for November (4 days was the old 5 is today probably won't see 32 till Wednesday) records record back to 120 years. Tonight we are expected to hit our record low temp of 14 in the morning and the lowest high of the day tomorrow is 23 and we are expected to hit only 21.... I'll be doing some fine burning these next couple of days... :fire:

I find your temperatures and ours interesting. The past week at least we have been colder than last year at the same time. But not too long ago we were pretty mild. Some weather predictors say colder than "normal" temps this winter. Some say more snow but not as cold as last winter. I'm hoping for several days below -30 to try and kill off some unwanted bugs that we don't need in this area!

Darn! I checked the weather forecast yesterday evening ...called for 2 cm. of snow and other than that just flurries through Wednesday...so I elected to leave the car out at the normal parking area, which is where the snowplow turns around, rather than backing it in to near the house. Sure hope we don't get more than four or five inches in the next few days...the ground is really wet and not frozen yet, so it would be far better if we don't need to get plowed for a while.
Was snowing hard enough for an hour or so this AM so I had to sweep the steps both before and after walking the dog. Snowballs on his feet and lower legs, so first swish in the bath for him this winter. I find it by far the easiest way to get the winter snowballs off his fur. He really resists putting his legs in a container of a warm water, but accepts the tub readily. His breed is really easy to carry...rather like carrying a baby on the shoulder, so it's easy to get him to the tub....towels accumulate during the day....

I'm really feeling for all those green frogs we had in the yard until two weeks ago. I hope they are well tucked away for the winter.

Met a barred owl at my gate the other day. It was on the ground next to my road, and swooped in front of me in a big arc, then landed on a branch just slightly to my east; we watched each other for a while...too bad I didn't have my camera with me......then I left it to enjoy it's pursuit of vermin.

Looking at the temps in the deep south, and feeling for the folks....their houses aren't built for this weather and many have no source of heat, especially in FLA. And, roads get disasterously dangerous.

Looking at the temps in the Midwest and west, and the snow in the upper midwest, and cannot complain about our weather or temps, although we are a bit colder than normal. Still burning mainly uglies and branches and twigs, with a few larger splits thrown in the last few days. Still have many large piles of branches dry/drying, waiting to be broken/cut and burned. I generally process about three to four bins at a time and refill when empty....will keep doing so until then snow stops the practice, then resume in the spring for that shoulder season. Saves a lot of splits, and heats the house well and quickly.

A Wheaten Terrier called Artan (Little Bear). He is very much a terrier, and loves the winter, the snowier the better. Muzzle to the ground tracking, or nose in the air sniffing and pointing, he obviously gets a nice crisp scent in this weather. Spotted a deer about an hour ago, so of course he had to go herd it. While I waited for him I heard the loons calling from the lake and the geese honking overhead as they V'd south. Crows cawing, Coyotes starting to howl, and some disturbed little white butterfly flying about in significant numbers. I don't recall seeing butterflies with snow on the ground before, with the exception of mourning cloak in the late winter/early spring. We unfortunately won't have the haunting call of the loon with us much longer with these temps. A few years in a row recently the lake didn't freeze over until late January, so we were blessed with the loons through Christmas.

My wife just showed me a picture of a dog (a wheaten terrier) similar to yours and I said "portuguese water dog" and she 'close'.
If you get a moment, plz post a pic of your wheaten :)
