I don't have internal measurements for masonry chimney flue. I can't reach up that far, and I'm not about to climb three stories to the roof to take a measurement. I have attached pictures where the 6 inch liner leaves the firebox and enters the flue. It looks like a close fit to me. Can I fit an insulated liner in here? Or do I have to leave the uninsulated liner in place?
If you cannot climb up to the top and measure it? How would you put one in if you could? Have read about people using perlite and dump it down the chimney around the existing un-insulated liner You have to block off the bottom so the Perlite won't fall all the way through But You still need to be at the top of the chimney to do that
Hire an installer of course. Some things are worth paying for. Being 3 stories in the air, with 35 feet of metal tubing, for me, is one of those things.
Agree, good idea to have a pro do one that tall. Get a couple bids I think no problem fitting it in there.
It should fit the insulation doesnt take up that much space and they usually put some kind of a mesh sock around it that helps to hold it down and squishes it a little. Also I would think that the installer would be able to tell you better in person when they come to check it out.
