After taking care of a few jobs around the house I hit the woods for some wood on the side of the trail that I left earlier this summer, after picking that up I took out a few stumps, after that I remembered another spot with some Cherry splits so I picked those up and after that I finally dropped a small Maple (my guess) that looked pretty dry. On my way home I pulled in my neighbors, I left him that dead Maple, the Cherry got stacking in the shoulder season area. The last picture is a Cherry I might grab tomorrow.
All in a days work around northern NY , "The Norm" Said; like everyone has a fun day in the woods like you. Trails, trailer loads of dry wood, neighbors, atvs, chain saws, stacks & caches of wood , great pictures <<...........>> etc...etc>>>. Routine day , eh? Anything exciting going on. I see snow on the ground. Lots of bent & hanging over trees. Future BTUs
Same ole chit Bogydave just a different day. I'll get those bent over topped off trees one of these years, I have a chit load down that I'll work on starting next spring, we have a ridge that is loaded with some decent size trees that will take me over a year to finish. Not much going on in this small hamlet unless your back at hunting camp, lots of people are looking forward to some big snow so they can hit the trails once hunting season is over with.

Most of the tub is full of Cherry c/s earlier this summer, I did about two laps around the property before I decided what to do, I have two more areas that I'll pick up some wood then I'll start on the downed Cherry. It looks like the Monday and Tuesday of Thanksgiving week, we'll be warming up to the low 50's.
If it's that stuff on top, that's a dead Maple and yes it looks dry. If I would've had the maul with me, we would've found out how dry it was.
Only spent a short time back in but it felt good, I guess that I'll make more time so I can spend it in the woods!
Umm. Define easy. Is that like last winter? Or a little colder? I would like some cold to help possibly kill some ticks and E.A.B. What da ya say woodlands weatherman?
It will be warmer than last winter but with some bigger snow events, watch for some ice coming in a few days before Thanksgiving!
I think on the low part of the property we have just under a full tub, up top I think we have a full load. I don't have the official count but our the wood in the stacks or in piles at the house should be 23 - 25 cord, not face. All the cutting for the spring of 2015 is lined up, I'll get a pic tomorrow which reminds me we have some Maple on the low part of our property I forgot about.
Don't you love getting some of that barkless dead standing maple.... I have a little of that from time to time and think it's great. Not much if any seasoning is necessary and nice clean firewood to add to my almost dry stack. Very thoughtfull of you to share it with your neighbor too!
He wasn't around when I pulled in so I grabbed his wheelbarrow, it filled it up way over the sides, he'll have a nice surprise when he looks out the door.
Awesome job as always man! Fallen maple seems to last longer than the dead standing. Never a dull moment in the woodlands huh!?!
