I have burned about five bags and kinda like these pellets. The ash is average, along the lines of a MWP, but my burn pot is spotless. Not a drop of ash in it after running on/off with these for the last week or so, which is not the norm. Heat may be an issue with these if you have to run your stove on the higher settings to stay warm as they are not very dense. May be the least dense pellet I have seen. However, this would not be any issue for me and my stove as I have never had to run on heat setting 4 or 5. They also tend to not slide down the hopper as well as some, again probably due to the lack of density. Overall I am pleased with the results.
Is it safe to assume that the ash is very light and just blows out of the burn pot and collects elsewhere as opposed to the heavier coffee grinds like ash of the MWP that collects in the burnpot? Compare the heat of these to the MWP's please.
Yes, I have very light ash. As for heat it's abit hard to tell because I didn't measure the pounds per hour. However, I got the same reading on setting one as I do with the MWP.
I've burned 10 bags of these with similar results . Ash is light a fluffy, I do get the speed bump of carbon in the burn pot that the Harman's are known for. Heat wise all I can say is the house is a comfy 72* stove temp mode setting 4.5 . They don't slide down the hopper very well . I posted this pic in another thread thought it might be good to put it here too. Overall I'm pleased .
If I had my stove on a setting of 4.5 with the temps we're seeing this time of year my house would be 90. Different size stoves make a difference.
I tested three bags of the heat'rs and liked them enough to grab fifteen more! (all that was left) I hope they get more in.
I had the stove on low over night and the house was a little chilly when when I woke up. Cranked stove to setting 3 and it warmed up quick. I was getting 110 degree heat out of the stove at six feet away
My experience with the Heat'rs is similar to what you guys describe here. The low level of ash output is impressive, but my biggest complaint is the heat output. At a given feed rate, they just don't do well compared to some of the others I'm testing with this year. I love the way they smell, but the pellets have a waxy residue surface which leads to the same kind of hopper slide problem that I had the first few years of burning Vermonts.
Thanks for the report. IF the local HD EVER GETS MORE PELLETS IN, ill try to grab some. Right now, the shortage continues
I hate to say it but glad I loaded up early. This early cold snap isnt helping matters-I think its creating some new pellet pigs ETA- by saying the I am glad I bought when I did, it really means that I was able to choose what I wanted for a price I was willing to pay. I have yet to not be able to find pellets, but they may be lesser brands or brands that are priced a little higher than I would normally consider-personal preferences come in to play here
I think we can both agree that the earlier a person buys, the more options they have, and this year, the folks who "will wait for the price to drop in the dead of winter" have lost out. Procrastination rarely pays off.
A fellow pellet burner at work asked me the other day if I knew anyone that had pellets! I said "you didn't get pellets yet?' he said "no, I didn't think there would be a problem getting some now" He wound up grabbing a ton off of his sister who bought 3 ton.....now he owes her and that ton isn't going to get him real far since that's his primary heat.
spent the day moving Purcells today....we have em.....a couple TL's of NEWP too....have to see how long they last....
