I agree with Hoot on the temp at 70. But also remember that you will lose heat to all that stone and cement. The pellet stove doesnt radiate heat like your wood stove does and you will be approx 10 deg difference upstairs from the basement if you are not burning upstairs. At this time of year, every time you shut down and then restart from cold, you need to overcome the stone/cement factor-which is more difficult for the pellet stove in terms of fuel use. Once we get into 24/7 burn time, it evens out and the cement will stay steadier, therefore using less fuel to compensation (although still losing some to absorption)

Dylskee, in case no one told you, when running in Room Temp mode, if you move the igniter toggle switch to manual, the stove won't shut down. When no heat is called for, the stove will go into "maintenance burn" until heat is called for again. When in Stove Temp mode, setting the switch to manual turns the blower off. This is sometimes referred to "Fireplace" mode.

 

I tend to set it a little higher down in the cellar so it keeps the floors on the first floor nice and warm. I did set it to 70° and 3 on the feed, I'll see how that goes. It's going to be pretty warm around here for the next couple of days so pellet consumption should be pretty low.

Hmmm, no I didn't know that. Thanks for all the tips, I'll get this thing figured out when we get into some steady cold temps. The weather is crazy around here lately, we were in the 70s last weekend, then it dips back down for a couple days. The nights get cold but it's not too bad during the day.

 

Keep in mind, Harman recommends the feed rate be set at 4. I leave mine set at that and don't even bother with it.

 

Great point subsailor....once we get to 24/7 time of season, I run stove temp/auto. At this time its room temp/ manual as I dont want the stove cycling much. Right now, it only on when I am home (daytime only-off at bedtime)...during work week, its off all day.
