May be this will be our winter. I have 2 cord hedge stacked in the basement. Which side of Kc do you live? I'm 20 minutes west of speedway.
Welcome to FHC, see that you've been around for a bit. Jump in and join some of the fun. I'm 20 minutes east of the Speedway... You must run a lot of hedge? I need to get some more this winter, after I get done processing this oak that I've got. I'm hoping for a decent amount of snow this year, will see...
Osage Orange - Hedge... A very dense and hot burning tree. Farmers use to plant them to separate land and as a cattle barrier. I call it Kansas Gold, cause when you cut it you'll be covered in yellow wood. Great stuff.
Deer hunting comes before wood cutting here. Still might start a little early depending upon the hunting and I have only one license.
Yes we have some that is all I burnt last winter. Just got done loading up a big load of mixed hedge locust and wild cherry. I will get it split tomorrow. Unless the snow is to bad.
Going to drop quite a bit here. Bring it on I'm ready and my house is toasty already. Time to pull the Albanian moon shine out to warm the blood up
Oh dang it is supposed to get colder yet here, and than snow on us, only a couple of inches though nothing like up in the UP where they got 50 inches Simply put, I don't like snow!!
Low of 17 by tomorrow morning. I'm going out to get at least 1 truckload, maybe 2 depending on energy levels. That won't be touched until February if I need it.
Finally heard some snow totals this today. What started out Monday with green grass and bare yards ended up with over 50" in some areas! It snowed pretty much steady once it started before noon on Monday and quit Thursday night. By Tuesday, I felt the same about shoveling as I normally do in February! Must have a very low tolerance this year? On Thursday morning, I made one more trip to the cottage and shoveled out the snowplow wash along the driveway so I could bust through and drive down the driveway with the rustbucket. I have no plow, but while I was moving, you would have guessed that there was a plow on the truck with the amount of snow it was moving in front and to the sides! At this time of year, you can get away with doing this as long as the snow isn't wet or settled. But by the time I left the cottage, the bottom foot of snow was pretty well wet and settled due to the warmth of the not yet frozen ground. There were a lot of surprised hunters that arrived (from out of the area) only to find that they couldn't make it in to their camps!
