image.jpg image.jpg image.jpg Hey guys, I'm glad to be a part of the forum! I thought I would start by sharing a few pics of part of my firewood stash (sorry about the blurry one). I have been burning wood my whole life, but started burning as an adult 13 years ago with my Clayton 1600G wood furnace (indoor unit). Last year, I installed a Jotul 500 Oslo to use during shoulder season and on winter days when it is too warm for my Clayton and love it! It burns exactly half the wood my furnace does, and is super efficient. But I still use my Clayton in the dead of winter, since it heats both floors so well (the Jotul does a great job heating the main floor of my ranch home, but warm air doesn't flow down very well).
I cut all my firewood with my Stihl chain saw, split 95% of it by hand with my monster maul, and split the twisted, knotty ones with my log splitter. Right now I have about 13-14 cords on hand, half of it is for next winter (2015-2016). I'm hoping to get to where I am 2 1/2 years out on my wood stash in a couple years. Thanks for having me!

Awesome stacks! Sounds like you're well on your way to being a full blown hoarder :D. What kind of wood you got stacked up?

I've got a monster maul too, it only gets busted out for the real stubborn rounds though

My wood is all white and red oak, hard maple (sugar maple), ash, and black walnut. Sometimes a little poplar or silver maple gets mixed in, too, but I try to avoid it. Thanks!

My chain saw is a Stihl 029 wood boss (about 25 years old and still running strong), and I use my 12 pound monster maul most of the time. My log splitter is a 31-ton MTD/Huskee. Thanks!

Sounds like you have access to some good wood! You get it from your own land?

    Nice saw choice too

Welcome thundar. Have the same saw but I think it is only 21 years old, but then I've cut 24 years worth of wood with it so just how old is it?

Welcome aboard, Thundar! Nice stash, looks like you're on your way! Not all that long ago, I was only on year ahead......now I'm sitting at 5 years ahead.

Yes its ridiculous. Yes I've got issues......being cold isn't gonna be one of them.....
