I "liked" your above post, but I'm not as "anal" as you are!!! 25-30,000miles/year here too.

I think I'm batting 1000 on the Blue Vomit list. I like 'em like that, and she still gets up that hill and brings down the fire wood. Love that old girl...

I love my truck, not too high to climb in and out of and not too small on the roads. My husband was looking for our lost dog in 90mph winds last Jan and the wind blew the door backwards. Still not fixed..........I had to change insurance in my new state so I doubt I could make a claim if I wanted to. It still gets me from point a to point b, and hauls stuff.

Well, everyone is free to choose for themselves, but to me a truck is like a boat. Always a she. Couldn't be any other way.

As for he/she it is easily determined just by looking at the back of the vehicle. If there is nuthin hanging she's a her, if you fueled at a truck stop and bolted on a set of truck nutz it is a he and you are a hick;-) I can't deny it so mite as well be proud of it:)

I am partial to "ol' girl", like a dependable old mare. Years ago I had a customer that manufactured KONG dog toys, they made nutsits for hitches, wonder if its the same company? I think kinda looks like a she anyway :)

Greenstick how cold is it out there?

I have a F-150 extended cab. It is a really good truck. No complaints. Hauls people and stuff comfortably.

If I had to do it over again I'd get a fuel sipping car and an older 3/4 ton truck.

I love diesels as much as anyone, but IMO they're completely overvalued (price-wise) right now. Unless you're pulling 10K every day, they just don't make a lot of financial sense. You can buy a lot of gas and forego a lot of $80 oil changes for the 4-6K price premium they command. A diesel will get you 300K - 500K miles without a lot of effort, but a gasser going 250K isn't uncommon...not that you'd put that many miles on it anyway. That being said, if someone wants a diesel...then they should buy one.

I'm a Ford guy, but you can pick up a good, reliable, relatively low mileage Chevy 3/4 ton 4x4 with a 6.0 for stupid cheap anymore. Heck, I wouldn't kick an 8.0 out of bed either.

You're getting ripped off if you're paying $80 for an oil change. I do my own for under $40...................That's 3 gallons of oil+filters. And I don't use the used oil in my saw either!!!! Equivalent trucks; the diesel will get better mileage towing, hauling and empty.

Check reliability on consumer reports. I can look up a model or two for if you'd like.
