HA HA. Nah, I wouldn't drive all that way for Golds. Platinums? Now that's a different story. They are a bit scarce these days, though, or so I am told. Based on that press release Doug posted a few weeks back, I have faith that he is secretly plotting to restore the Okie Platinum levels in NE to what they once were just a few years ago. Just a matter of time...

Well my experience is different, same model stove. i have found no hard clinkers. there are very few fines. the ash is comparable to other high end pellets i have burned. the heat seems good. the consistency is good. the results of spock are odd, and i wouldn't be that happy. i was scared as i had 6 tons in the basement, i am no longer scared as they perform well for me. your results may vary. negative reviews always get more attention than positive, the whole squeeky wheel thing. I hope spock starts getting better results. spock have you burned other pellets this year yet? how did they do?

Platinums will be back...in good volume...stay tuned.

Lets see....Go to St John or stick around and have an overpriced dinner with a pellet sales guy.....yeah, that's a tough choice to make

Seeing most of you guys/gals are using Harman's, With some even the same model(XXV) and Spock has burned other brands with little issue. I think what were seeing is good old batch variance. Happens to even the best of mills.

I've had my share of this, While others raved about them.

I would agree with jtakeman that what we have here is probably a batch variance seeing as how we (the Harman folk here w/gold) are getting different results and my testers are getting similar results on my batch. I can now share as I have gotten deeper in the pile the clinkers are smaller and not as hard. So again similar results to my testers. Maybe I am crazy but my observation is that as it gets colder the clinkers are not as hard.

I do have a couple bags of Turman and Stove Chow. Will get to them as soon as I can.

I've seen it with about every brand I have burned. At one point or another(specially after you brag on them) chit happens. For example: "Turman's were the most consistent brand I have seen" was my last season comment. Shortly after all that went into a tizzy as the ash complaints started rolling in. I got a few samples and saw excellent to absolutely evil amounts of crud.

yea, I like the Turmans for a 100% hardwood pellet and for their heat, but found the ash to be somewhat high, and they were very "clinkery"....and I have a Harman which is pretty forgiving for clinkers...other brands are more finicky, but I cant really comment as to them. Others LOVE the Turmans...all good....I also like the Turmans to smoke food with as well.....not many production pellets you can do that with anymore....
