Where I was it was in the 60's all day until the sun fell, then the temp dropped. Made for some good wood cutting though and I got a good haul in today, but it dropped like a rock when the stars came out, currently burning a little pine hemlock and a few pieces of American elm.
Still 55º here this morning. A light drizzle going on. Ash burning to keep the hot water for the showers steady.
A decent amount, but mostly only 1 morning and/or 1 evening fire to take the chill off. Last weekend was real cold and we kept the fires going pretty steady but we've had another warm spell here in CT the past few days so back to sporadic. Starts cooling tonight though and then stuff gets real this weekend!
FINALLY hit freezing last night--32deg. Highs only in low-40s today. Been burning night and day now for 2 days. Whoo hoo!
Woody asked Nooooo, mrbill! Welcome, where are ya? SE Washington state. Only thing around for miles is wheat fields.
Here it was 63 on Monday afternoon,by Tuesday morning it was 26 with 1/2" of snow & 13 degree windchill High temps 25 to 32 through next Monday is expected.Lows in mid to upper teens with occasional gusts.Possibly 1 to 3" snow on Saturday. Nice in here though, mid - upper 70's in basement,a few degrees less on main & 2nd floor thanks to a mix of 2 yr old Honey Locust & Mulberry with a smattering of old wormy Cherry scrap,Silver Maple & the odd piece of wormy Redbud. Have plenty of dead (split/stacked 2 to 5 yrs old) Red/White Oak & a little Shagbark for Dec-Feb if needed.....
That hearth & mantle are awesome. Is the mantel Red Elm also? Sure looks like some lumber/smaller projects I milled/finished in years past, especially the pieces holding it up...
36.5 on the Radio Shack Special, the pine and the hemlock are doing the job, 77 in the basement while the living room upstairs is 72. We'll keep burning the same wood until the last rack we have inside is gone.
Down into the mid 20's now, it's COLD for here! I'm into the Madrone for the cold snap. The stove is putting on a show for sure. Here's what the view looks like..
Low of 16 tonight Burning an Oak log. Temp tomorrow 31-18 and 5-7 inches of snow predicted Thurs and Fri. Covered my woodpiles with tarps and hauled some wood on to the patio.
I think I loaded the stove a little too full for 30 degrees cuz its 87 in here stove top went up to 725
