I finished up at the farm and had some time to kill so I headed over to the tree stand around 4 this afternoon. Not even in the stand 15 mins and a small 5 pointer walks over. It looked like it was going to go behind my tree but made a turn and walked out right in front of me. Hit him broadside with a lung/heart shot and he took off about 80yds from the stand and collapsed. Not a trophy but a good amount of meat for the freezer. 3 weeks off until rifle opens.
Can't eat the horns.....congrats brother!! Gotta love the adrenaline rush that comes with hearing that arrow go WHACK when it hits your prey.....good job!
Dinner the other night. Backstrap with peppers and onion. The rest of the deer is in my extra fridge aging for the rest of the week then will be grounded up into burger and sausage.
This is just how i do it.....cut out t/l.......grind up the rest or cold pack it....you can use burger fer darn near anything..and canned venison is da bomb...
