For shoulder season I have been burning a mix of silver maple (<20%) and slightly punkie white oak (?%) . The dry silver maple keeps the stove hot enough that the secondaries engage, the glass stays clear, and there is no smoke. KaptJaq
White oak 40%....it burns real nice though I soak it in kerosene for 2 days before putting it in the stove.
cherry, maple, pine, sycamore for shoulder season Changing to mostly red oak later this week. No idea moisture content. All wood has been c/s/s for two years.
I cant wait to see the difference in the same wood white oak out side vs beside the stove and different other stacks and ages. Thanks
Why yes, I sure am serious I used to use charcoal lighter but kerosene is less expensive and it's easier on the cat stove.
Silver maple, elm, a little mulberry, locust and who knows 18 months stacked so should be gooder to go, at least the stove seems to like it (600-650*).
