Decided to work on a white oak that mother nature took the top out of today. Spent from about 9 am to 5 working on this today. In the end I was happy with the results but spent way to much time opening two trails back up as a Hickory top came down in that last wind storm and had me blocked off. Finally got to the tree. This one was a pain in my butt Went ahead and took down the other side of this tree. You can see how bad it was bent so there was no hope for it and it is taking up canopy area for other good trees to grow. Dropped it right where I wanted though.
Getting the main part of the logs out. After I got the main logs out I cut the rest of the tops up that weren't worth moving to flatter ground. Hauled 5 trailer and bucket load back to the split pile. Bucked up the main logs and split them
My pile still needing split. The boys got along great today! I gotta say I love the 460! I find myself reaching for it over and over again. I had the 450 out for some small stuff around 12" but ended up going back for the 460 just because you barley have to touch the throttle and it is through the wood.
What size kubota bx is that? I'm looking to get one in the spring, pretty impressive pulling that log out!
great work with that 460, Ive been wanting to get mine out so bad but have so much going on I haven't taken it out. One of these days it will get out there
Great pictures. One real days work ! Fun & rewarding makes for a great day. * * Another member goes vertical ! * *
It is a BX2360. I really don't have much in the way of complaints about it. I have pulled some bigger logs than that with it before and t does pretty good. What are you planning on doing with yours when you get it? I currently use mine to mow, bush hog with a 4 ft bushog, till the garden, plow the drive, and haul wood. Make sure you get a loader or you will kick yourself later. The only thing that would be nicer is larger rear tires to smooth out the ride.
We had a great day too, it made me want to hold off on the stacking & hit the woods for some more downed cherry.
More fun parts of fire wood processing than just running a saw. Whole day in the woods is just one of many But running that 460 has got to be one of the top fun parts
Congrats on a good day of work. I live about 1.5 hrs from you and have been through your area several times. It is beautiful around there. Nice setup with the tractor, trailer, splitter and saws. I run a 460 and a 290, your right about the 460. It is a great machine.
