No OAK here. Yet. I planned to install one in the fall but never got around to it.

Burned my first bag of FSU ever yesterday. Look what I found in the burn pot this morning. Look familiar? I couldn't believe it. I have never seen ash like this before. Truth be told, when I got up this morning, there was a mountain of what looked like heavy black coffee ground type ash in the pot. However, when tried to scrape it out, it was actually more like one large solid mass. Like a big chunk of coral, just not as hard. This is what they broke into when I tried to rake it out of the pot. I did get decent heat out of the FSUs (stove was at 450 degrees) when I first threw them in, but out of fairness, for the vast majority of the day and night, the stove ran on a super low/slow burn. So I would expect a larger than usual build-up given those conditions, but never anything of this magnitude. Holy smokes, is this what folks usually see with these pellets, or is this completely out of the ordinary?

Hmmm.....looks like you may want to get rid of them cheap, just so happens I am right in the neighborhood.....
I don't remember exactly but I may have had to increase my air a bit on these. But I l love them.

I burn a lot of FSU's and I don't see that. My Harman is OAk'ed, though, so that may be the difference. The ash is like coffee grounds like you described, but I've never see it hard like that.

OK, thanks for the feedback. Given the great reviews these get, I didn't think this could be the norm. I will see what happens when I burn the next bag on a night when it's really cold and the stove needs to run strong the whole time. If I get the same results, I suppose I will have to chalk it up to a bad batch. I don't think the OAK is a factor. I've never seen anything like this before!

Swapped a buddy two bags of stove chow for two bags of my Okie gold. He has a Harman P61 and was willing to test my stash for clinkers. You will know when I do. As for myself still making clinkers.

Although I may have a solution to the issue. I threw an old gold ring into the burn pot and this was the result ;)...

Yeah...in my stove the ring would have been turned to fine ash, just like everything else I throw in!!:dancer:

Just swapped another two bags of Okie Gold for two bags of Turmans. So I got two buds testing now.

    Happy Friday everyone.

Turmans, nice. Those are rare around here especially this year. Interested to hear your thoughts on them.

I am one of Spock's testers. I gave him 2 bags or Turman's for 2 Okie Gold. I have a P43 Harman. I cleaned out the burn pot and loaded up the Okies. A couple of observations right away. The Turmans are much more uniform in length and there is nearly no dust in the bag. The Olkies appear broken up and there was alot of dust in the bag. I will report again after I burn out the 2 bags.
