Got my eye on a Oak...

    I think Shawn is right. Google image bark pics look similar

    I didn't recognize the leaves, but it's a red oak for sure. The grain is a giveaway, as well as the orange bark on the ends- looks just like the water oak we have down here

    I just knew it was a Oak from the acorns...the only other one that I think it could be is...shingle oak

    Huh - didn't know shingle oak looked like that. The natural range seems to be a better fit too. Looked up some pics; I think shingle oak leaves are as big as your hand; basically the same size as a regular oak leaf. So I still like willow.

    Either way, it's 2 cords of red oak!!! :banana:

    Actually I'm starting to run out of space at my house. I'm mainly going over to exercise my saws...it's the CAD in me.. And of course the nice weather...:thumbs:

    Well the main trunk came down today. Sunday I'll start workin' on it. Gonna be some big Chunks come out of that Ol' Girl. I'll try to post the videos. Looked like he was using a MS460, but he said it was a 440. But he had a very dull chain.
