Seemed to work fine. It poured a little slow out of the jug at 20°, but I let my saw warm up for about 2 - 3 minutes in the temps I was in. The oil tank & oil get warm too. I always had to add oil when I gassed up. Someone said I could mix the canola with the poulan bar oil to thin it out, but I didn't. (yet) I'll keep an eye out for Walmart to have a sale & pick up a couple jugs. I spent 30 years using 30 weight oil in my Husqy 61, replaced the bar once, it still runs. Used it in the 359 till I ran out. Now buying bar oil & I'm frugal, cheapest I can find works for me. Did notice the bar oil seem to have STP (or the like) in it, similar stringy/tackyness to it. Doesn't fly off the end of the chain like the 30 weight did, harder to see if it's oiling. I think that's probably a good thing,
I usually stock up when Menards has their stuff on sale. Got 10 jugs at $5 a jug. Should be good for a while. Work great in the summer. Been cutting it with ATF this fall. Might try a bit of kero this winter.
Not sayn im sum sort of health nut..but was thinkin..doesnt the bar oil become aresolized?..i feel like canola wouldnt be as bad as petrol based lube..iffn your inhalin the stuff..
The thing I noticed about canola is that whatever builds up behind the clutch cover gets like a rock if you don't polish your saw up at the end of the day. I'm not that guy. I clean it up if I swap chains, otherwise it waits until I have some downtime.
I am a man, a man's man armed with a chainsaw. A big chainsaw with real virgin petroleum derived bar oil pumped out of the bowels of the earth through the wonders of fracking. The only thing better would be bar oil with agent orange in it to kill weeds.
