Polar Vortex to Plunge Toward Central US Next Week

Looks like it's going to get pretty cold later this week. One weather source is saying possible snow with change over to rain in my area next Saturday!

Good time to be burning, coming up.

I'm not a weather enthusiast - are terms like 'polar vortex' and 'arctic outbreak' anything more than a fancy way to say 'cold snap'?

 

Cold Snap, also the name of a Sam Sdams brew.

 

New and improved phrases make for a better show.
I think they've all hired marketing pros to spice things up.

 

If Sam Adams is paying attention, they'll soon change the name to 'polar vortex', it'll sell better.

 

Soon it will be "Arctic Armageddon" instead of polar vortex.

 

Sounds more like a Gatorade flavour.

 

Are they going to call every cold front a "polar vortex" from now on?

 

I'm waiting for the next "Southern Hemisphere Heat Extravaganza" to "attack".

 

That sounds terrifying & I'd like to read more about it.

 

There's going to be a heat extravaganza in my living room in a few days if the forecast is right.

Technically, it's only a small, modified bite of the polar vortex.

 

The Weather Channel has become little more than a Hype Machine in recent years. They keep introducing pathetic gimmicks (e.g. naming winter storms) in order to maintain viewership.

 

Winter storm Latrina. That's what I call them all anyhow!
