Been told over time it really gums up the saw & is real hard to clean it off.

I've used it before, but now I just run bar oil. It's cheap, and it's not like I use tons of it a week or something

Canola will go rancid sitting in the saw, and mine goes weeks between uses

I thought going rancid and the residue were problems with using veggie oil that were lessened by using Canola?

    I ran some .
Think it was mastermind that said it was hard to clean off the saw.
What's it cost per gallon there. Around $11 here.

I've tried it, I guess I just don't understand the point when a gallon of canola is just about the same as a gallon of oil. Maybe that's different elsewhere

Your Veggie Oil will gum things up, I've been running Canola Oil (Wesson) for about 4 years without any problem.

Smokinjay is the one that told me about the Canola Oil.

I think that's about what I've been getting bar oil for from northern tool. Maybe 8.49 or 9.49 or something like that

I bought a gallon to use, but was more $$ than bar oil here.
I might give it a go next year. I hear it's good for cold weather.
No costco here, 3 Bears might have it.

Among other things the difference is that, canola oil is thinner than regular bar oil for winter use
