So my stove accidentally gets shut off...

I've mentioned before that my insurance company doesn't like me having a pellet burner in my shop.

Well I'm still using the stove when I'm out there a couple days per week… it's only started getting cold the last two days so i haven't used it very much.

Anywho… a couple nights ago my young helper and I got done with our work about 8PM and I told him to turn off the lights and come in the house to clean up. I DIDN'T tell him to pull the plug on the pellet stove… so I was expecting the horrifying black cloud of smoke sneaking out of the old Englander (horizontal exhaust).

Well I got nada… nothing… no smoke. Just a little smoke smell near the stove. It had been cranking on 8/8… so it behaved a little better than my St. Croix as that stove emitted a little smoke when we had a power outage six years ago. I was able to temper that with a wet towel around the stove top. No real problem.

Just thought I'd pass this along...

nope… not in my shop.

 

Is that because it's "well ventilated"??

 

Sort of… 1500 square feet. 10' ceilings. Pretty much two big rooms… the heated area is 1100 sq. ft. R-19 in the walls… R-11 to R-40 in the ceiling (mix of fiberglass batts and blown).

The real reason is the elderly owner is just lazy….

 

Nice that you didn't get any smoke. I had a power outage yesterday while at work. My UPS was drained and my stove defaulted to its original fan setting so it must have been runnin. Only a faint smoke smell when I got home....better than expected

So what you're saying' is that the mouse holes to the outside are a natural "OAK" system??
