That Mac hurts my ears... Literally... You can feel it running in your chest like a good pulling truck...
The stick that gave the chains such a hard time.... I dubbed it.. "The Humbler" Some firewood for the shop in a month or two.... Wanna know how to cut and burn in less than a year? 1" rounds... Problem solved...
The chains were going fast until they got into the darker part of the log. Plus the darker wood started as a small spot then grew further down the log. Oh well just a friendly test. The walnut cookie on top of the pile does look HARD as concrete.
I enjoyed preparing a chain and followed a few really good threads because of the friendly competition. I also learned a lot. Only regret I have is I was not there.
I hope someone will have a small gtg sometime this winter when I may be able to attend. I've been 1500 miles away or traveling the day of them home or two work.
You know we do those impromptu GTG'S sometimes around here... I'll get with Steve on possible charity cut dates..
Here ya go Mike!! A date to shoot for... And anyone else interested for that matter.. Afternoon everybody, Charity Cut 8, December 13th. Found a site on the north side of Springfield. Ed's been there to check it over. Said about an 18 wheeler load of logs already stacked on the ground plus more scattered through the woods. I saw pictures of some of the site. It's along a utility right of way. Supposed to be easy to get to. Evidently somebody in the Forrestry Department has heard of us and came up with this place. I don't know yet what type of equipment is needed, besides splitters. We might have access to a tractor. I will find out. I'll keep everyone updated and send directions to all who sign up as soon as I get them. Thanks everyone, Steve
Mdavlee, that was Chad - Lumberjackchef, a wood carver racing against Levi. Jeremy - Wiggs was wearing a black shirt, hat & had a black beard. (I can't grow a decent beard so I was a little envious of a few of the beards. Wiggs, Awol, ...)
Looks like a great time with great people.. Can't beat that.. I need to make a gtg somewhere one of these days..
