Mid 30's here, dropping to around 28 with 15 mph winds. First load of all oak loaded for an overnight. Should have a good bed of coals in the morning for an easy restart before work. Temps will rise to just below normal this week before dropping down in time for the weekend again.

Looks like right at 32º this morning. Straight White Ash going in the boiler here at home and Curran Softwoods going in the pellet stove at camp.

Nice quick restart this morning. Threw more oak in to keep the dog warm today. The oak REALLY took off last night. fishingpol, I am thinking seriously about flipping the air slide over for better control. This is the first year of all oak.... the castine was throwing flames like a rocket!! I had the lever as far left as possible, but still blazing. Once we get a warm-up, I'll get a chance to pop of the dog house and get to the guts of it. :)

We had the front go through last night and I did a load of oak. Actually, 3 large oak splits that would not fit in the F 3. The stove heated like a rocket too. It went up to 600+. I had closed down the primary well before that. Even closed down, it was still chugging along. The secondarily were pretty strong too. My slide plate can only go one way.

My thoughts are that the stove does not do great in marginally cool weather. With cold weather, it is up to task.

Our boiler is not working now and last night in the mid 30's and steady wind, the stove heated the whole house. I am very happy with the stove. I really liked the F 3, but the F400 really is a step up.

Snap some pics of the slide plate oriented both ways if you can for comparison.

Yep wood can be wasted this time of the year and I hate to see a stick of seasoned hard wood go down for nothing.

GF got home Friday and she managed to burn through a trailer load of punky oak and pine by yesterday afternoon:eek:
It was winter cold here Saturday 20mph winds and barely broke 45F, had a good frost this morning but things are turning back to normal.

Light load of gum maybe a hickory split overnight- I'm too tired to go load the trailer

Not very cold this morning. I like it. Looks like about 42º or so on the back porch. Some nice dry Ash and Spruce going in the boiler this morning.

Just walnut so far this season. It burns pretty well, but, yeesh, I'm emptying the ashpan as often as if I were burning 24-7.

Pretty mild climate here, lowest I've had so far is 26F. My stove's a little undersized, though, so I love this time of year when it doesn't take much effort to keep the house warm.
