What? I understand you to say it had a low speed bogg. But what does " put maybe a 1/2 tank over the well through it" mean?

We won't really know what happened until Nate pressure/vac tests the saw and then tears it down.

Everything else is just a guess. ;)

So you rebuilt the carb, tuned it, and ran half a tank through it before it locked up? Did the "hired hand" lean out the carb when you weren't looking?

No, didn't have a kit on hand. I pulled the carb apart and cleaned it out for the time being. Carb kit on order.

Not sure what you mean by "hired hand"? He is a hired hand. Have 2 actually. 6 people total. No he didn't lean it out, just used it for limbing and cleaning brush around the shop.

I pulled it apart tonight and the crankcase was full to the brim. Killed the crank bearings.

Did you put the screen back in the carb...trash hung in the needle? Or worn needle?

It was full to the brim with fuel?

Did it lock up while he was running g it? I dont see how that much fuel built up in there if it was running ? I guess it did.

No screen, needle fine, yes while running. Diafram came apart? Sucked fuel into crank?

Yes full to top, was leaking all over the floor were I threw it actually.

Nope, no screen in it. Zama carb, many I've rebuilt did which is weird, but the kit had no screen either.

Running 100ll in it, (had 10 gals left over from my Lotus Elise which I sold) but reg gas in non ethanol.

No big deal really, I'm pretty sure I have a couple sets of crank bearings. They are the same same used in a bunch of Stihl saws.

Cylinder has minimal wear, rings are worn, have a set for them.

Didn't fix it last night, couldn't find the flywheel puller and I was plumb worn out.

Might pull the base gasket, smart idea or no?

If you find enough clearance I would delete it.

Always measure squish before deleting the base gasket. Easy to do.
