Why is it that I can buy a big breaded fillet of Lake Erie perch sandwich at a restaurant in Erie but the stores have teeny little fillets for at least twice the cost of my sandwich?
Can't answer your question, but that sure sounds delicious! I think perch us the best tasting freshwater fish on the planet....even better than walleye...
Scotty, gotta disagree with you on that one. For me, nothing beats a fresh walleye-pan fried, salt/pepper with a light flour coating. Only! The perch I have tried always has that "fishy" smell. Go figure, huh? However, the walleye is a member of the perch family, so...

If the perch are fishy someone threw in a white bass in the mix. My FIL does them flour , egg wash then bread crumbs......THE BOMB

I agree Scotty, especially when they're descaled, butterflied and fried. I prefer Andy's seasoning. Never had anything anywhere near as good in a restaurant.
There is a nice fish house in our town, fried the old fashioned way, they do a good job you just have to add salt as the dont salt as the seniors need to eliminate salt intake. Goes good with a Big Red (Cream Soda).
Yeah, I'm hoping to get one more trip out on Erie out of Ashtabula before I put the boat up for the winter. My freezer is out of fish!!!
Both are great ! You can't beat the taste of either. If you cook anything badly, it will come out badly!
