I need pics of the appliance adapter and the oak installed, I played with it today and the appliance adapter is 3" into 4".
Because of this the 4" part is in the way of anything I stick on the 2.5 intake port under the exhaust port. I picked up the car exhaust 2.5 to 3" adapter and put it on the outside air port, it hits the the 4" appliance adapter!

My pics won't help as I go out 18" or so with 3 inch pipe before switching to four inch at the bottom clean out tee.

hmmm. that design could've been thought over a little better. you might need to do like 343 did and use a 3" adapter and a 3" to 4" tee.

Your pics had the cold air box on the back right?
If so can you give me a measurement from the back of the furnace to the end of the cold air return box?
I am trying to figure how far off the wall the box would push the furnace forward.

It will still fit.. It's just a tight fit..

Very poor design, but still functional.

What size flex is that 2.5" or 3" squashed down to 2.5"?

The cold air return box sticks out 12" from the rear of the furnace. I have the back of the cold air box a foot off the wall so I can wedge my azz behind the furnace if I ever need to.

I suspect the air intake and exhaust design is a holdover from "generation 1" where they specified 3" venting could be used (that's what's written in my manual). When they found that didn't work so good, the requirement went to 4".

I got lucky in that I had a couple feet of 3" venting left from an old stove, so I went out the back with 3 inch and brought that into a 3" to 4" clean out tee.

Since you're close, I might be tempted to do what Dex did and just cram the OAK pipe on and clamp it down. No harm done in doing it that way IMHO.

Thanks man, I appreciate the help. I am waiting on a response about the cold air box and they don't show dimensions for it anywhere. I didn't want to finish the vent pipe to find out when it comes it doesn't fit! I'll leave the 12" for the box plus another 12".

The cold air box isn't a perfect rectangle. It's angled at about 45 degrees towards the furnace on the side where the venting comes out.

Also for future planning, it takes a 12x20 filter.

I used 3" flex and made a few cuts in the pipe, so it would squish over the inlet of the furnace.

Just make sure the hose clamp is in front on the damper control, so you still have control over the furnace

I see you went flex to hard vent, does it fit over the 3" hard vent?

That's what I have also, my basement is a maze full of vent parts, duct parts, 4" blocks, and 4 tons of pellets lol not to mention the furnace in the middle.

I checked how much it would cost to do a 3" appliance adapter, 3" vent pipe, and a 3" to 4" adapter.
Would run another $100..........right now I need to get it up and running so I am gonna pick up 3" flex and make it work.

I see the appliance adapter was meant to go inside the appliance, but that can't happen on this furnace. I wonder if it was crimped, if it would slide in as intended.

No. The appliance adapter goes over the stoves exhaust snout.

Yeah like in my pic, but why would they put a groove with a rope gasket in there if nothing was meant to go in and seal?
