I used to have a species that bloomed for eEaster rather than a Thanksgiving or Christmas cactus. Used to put it outside in the Summer as it woud set twice as many blooms and one year something came along and ate it.
My wife has two big Christmas cactuses and they've been in full bloom for almost three weeks now........what gives? I hear-tell that a snowstorm is possible here in the northeastern states this coming week.......maybe the cactuses and the hundreds of wooly buggers are trying to tell us something??

Good question. We have this one in our waiting room. My patients keep asking what kind it is and how we got it to bloom like this. (Benign neglect?)
Hmm...I hung one in a window a few years ago..water it and thats about it. Dont ya know, it bloomed a week ago. Only bloomed on the window side so I spun it..maybe other side will bloom now?
I do the same. the cool temps by the window seem to trigger the blooming hormone. Window 1/2 starts to bloom, then I rotate
Neglect seems to part of the secret. I went down to do some ironing in the sewing room and to my surprise my cactus are blooming.
