I am shocked closet rods cost so much.

I have wood curtain rods that do not fit my new home. They are a bit less than 1.5" diameter.

    Good or bad idea?

Unless they're made out of unobtainium, they all seem to sag.......

I get pipe cut at the hardware store. Wood sages too much for my liking.

Depending on the distance of the rod in the closet, will determine how much it will sag. You may want to consider supports in the run to help the sag

Thanks!! What do you think about putting them 2 high on the side walls of the closet, perpendicular @ 31" each instead of one long one parallel to the door. :picard:Womanspeak...... I'd like to do something like the pic below, and use the middle for toy storage. RX-Press-Kits_Closet-Maid-curtain-girl_s4x3_lg.jpg

Agree with Gary. If they're that short, they should be fine for a long time w/o sagging.
    YMMV

Right now I have the materials here, so I won't have to buy anything. YMMV is just fine :) Thanks!! My husband can do his interior design thing in a couple of years when we actually have flooring/paint/etc. And by that time if they work alright, they might become permanent.

Thank you all who gave me your opinions.

I have used black pipe before. You'd pull the wall down before it sagged much.

Just moved the clothes rod in my wife's closet. Wood is cheaper but the hangers don't slide as easy as with metal

DSCF1422.JPG DSCF1423.JPG DSCF1424.JPG DSCF1425.JPG progress! Tomorrow will be caulk and paint, then hang rods. Triple hangs on both sides :rootintootin: Her clothes are little so there will be room on the bottom to store toys. I have a dozen of the fabric boxes that will be filled for the narrower shelves.

    NOT RECOMMENDED!

Dear Husband has a tiny piece of sawdust in his eye. Despite a whole bottle of eyedrops and my futile attempts at finding the piece its still there. Hopefully he will get to the optometrist tomorrow but til then he did some of this in anticipation of digging for it later. (same bottle I used for gargle on New Years Eve for terribly sore throat yooperdave ) DSCF1426.JPG

PS Woodwidow , this is the same closet lil one helped me paint and left her footprints in :) We will be leaving the linoleum in there for a few years and use large throw rugs.
