Three years ago I bought the granfors bruks large splitting axe and american felling axe.I didn't want to spend the money but finally did.let me tell you they hold an edge superbly. I also have the fiskars large splitting axe and it works good,but when i swing that granfors i know I'm using a tool that will be passed down to the next generation.so if your undecided save your penny's and take the plung you won't be sorry.

I have the splitting axe and hatchet. Quality. I marred up the back of the handle driving a wedge. Not going to use it in that way again.
Yep, usually axes and mauls/sledges are tempered differently. Driving wedges with an axe is a no no (I've done it too though )
