Newest addition - Early-late 1960's.Barn find from Albany,Oregon. My net cost for this? ZERO after selling one of my duplicates for 20% more than it cost me last month
I don't think any of us have thought to apply it to a saw. Dye would work well on a 290/310/390 or any of the other all plastic chassis saws. So yeah, if you have pics and want to share what you used and why you did it, I think it would be a most excellent post. Is the saw otherwise a stock 390... Etc. It a up to you of course but you've piqued my curiosity as well as a couple others here with that pic.
You are correct, The dye only works on plastic, so the 1127 series and 1123 series Stihl saws are great candidates for it... The 039 is not a stock saw anymore... It's intake and exhaust have been ported, and has a pop up piston for a little extra comp. I'll see if I can scrounge up enough pics for a thread.
OK... Thread done.. I probably forgot a bunch of stuff, so please ask questions, as communication is not my strong suit...
Hedge, I'm still seeing some empty wall space, what other saw do you want to find to fill the spaces?
Have I mentioned I LOVE top handle saws? (Ignore the Poulan Wood Shark on the lower left, it is only a loaner.) Up top: Jonsered CS2139T (39cc), Poulan Microvibe 25 (33cc), Husqvarna 338XPT California (45cc) Lower level Stihls: S10 (56cc / 17" bar), 08-S (56cc / 17" bar), 08-S (56cc / 25" bar) My work saws loaded up & ready to go!
After Sandy my wife let me use the HomeLite Ranger 33 (yeah Mike from Maine, you aren't the only member with one of these monsters). She used the Husqvarna 460 to do the easy stuff. Something about not frying the 460 on those downed power lines. KaptJaq
The boys are getting along good today even though the 450 is feeling a bit rejected. The 460 is so much faster that the only thing I have used it for is limbing the small stuff.
